On Dec. 16, the reporter visited the construction site of the Jiangnan Expressway—Jiangcheng Avenue, and saw that workers were paving the asphalt for the road. At the end of this month, the construction of the section between Dianjun Avenue and Wulong Avenue is going to be completed. After the ramp between this section and the overpass of Yiqiao Road is completed and open for traffic, the citizens can arrive at the Yiling Yangtze River Bridge by driving through the Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, the Dianjun Avenue and Jiangcheng Avenue.   

Jiangcheng Avenue connects the Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge in the north and to Yiqiao road’s overpass in the south. The whole area of Dianjun District is connected by the Jiangcheng Avenue. The section of this avenue is located between the Fanba Highway in Dianjun District and the Yangtze River. Viewed as a second expressway in this district, it connects the Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, Yiling Yangtze River Bridge, Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge and Yichang Yangtze River Highway Bridge. The completion of Jiangcheng Avenue will greatly improve the transportation between Dianjun District, Xiling District and Wujiagang District, and the framework of expressway system in the southern bank of the Yangtze River has taken shape, encircled by Jiangcheng Avenue, Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, Yiling Yangtze River Bridge and Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge. The Jiangcheng Avenue, with a length of 8.1 kilometers, is the expressway with most bridges in Yichang. There are 5 main bridges built in the Avenue, among which 2 are interconnected, and half length of the road is on the bridge. The project leader of the urban construction group told the reporter that the Jiangcheng Avenue stretches over the Juanqiao River and the Changling River, passes through Jiangjun Road, Dianjun Road, Shuangshi Road, Wulong Road and other roads. Thus, it’s difficult to be constructed. There are also greenway-constructing projects, including the construction of bike greenway, walking greenway and 5 joints of greenways.
