On October 31st, the Yichang City Development and Reform Commission held a press conference to inform the railway projects and mass transit construction in Yichang city. According to the “Mid-Term and Long-Term Railway Network Development Program”, Yichang is the intersection between the Hunan channel and the Yanjiang channel. In the aspect of passenger transport, during the period of the Thirteenth Five-year Plan, our city will build new high-speed railways, from Xiangyang to Jingmen to Yichang, and from Yichang to Changde. In terms of freight transport, our city plans to report six port railways: Three Gorges Water and Transport Railway (Northern line), Zigui Maopinggang Port Railway, Yunchigang District Port Railway, Ziyun local railway, Baiyanggang Port Railway, Zhichenggang Port Railway. Yichang is planning Dangyang-Yuanan Branch Railway, “Yi Xin Ou” international channel and the construction of railway logistics center.
With the completion of a number of planned railways, the city will construct the ancillary Yichang North High-speed Rail Station, Xingshan Station, Dangyang Station, Yuanan Station, Changyang Station and Wufeng Station. Meanwhile, in order to relief the tension of current Yichang East Station’s reception capacity, the expansion of the North Square of Yichang East Station is being studied.
As for the construction of rail transit, the government plans to build 3 lines and the total length of approval rail transit network has reached 124km. It is preliminarily projected that the construction of rail transit Line 2 will start next year. According to the order of line 2, line 3 and line 1, the whole project will be promoted as constructing one rail transit line each year. 
The rail transit line 2 first-stage project runs from Yiling Square Station to Xiaoting Station. This line will lie mainly along with the Xiling First Road, Chengdong Avenue, Dongzhan Second Road, the Jichang Road, Yingbin Avenue and Xiaoting Avenue. It consists of 12 stations, with the total length of 34.3 km or so and the whole investment of 16.1 billion.
The rail transit line 3 first-stage project runs from Yiling Square Station to Bayuping Station. This line will mainly pave along with Xiling First Road and Fazhan Avenue. It consists of 11 stations, with the total length of 16.8 km and the whole investment of 11.2 billion.
The rail transit line 1 first-stage project runs from Gezhouba Station to Zhijiaoyuan Station. This line will mainly pave along with Yiling Avenue, Jucheng Road and Hanyi Avenue. It consists of 17 stations, with the total length of 21.2 km or so and the whole investment of 15.8 billion. (Yang Chunyan)
